Résumé · 2017 — Present

Eight years of making things that work & feel right.

The short version: started in print, fell in love with pixels, and spent the last eight years crossing between design and code. The long version is below — every role, and what each one taught me.

Independent — Designer & Developer

2025 — Present

Freelance · Remote worldwide

Solo practice working directly with startup founders and studios — owning everything from first brand workshop to shipped front-end. Two to three engagements at a time, done properly.

  • Brand, product and web engagements for clients across fintech, wellness, culture and retail.
  • Shipped full design→build ownership: identities, design systems, marketing sites and product UI in one tidy package.
  • Kept a 98% on-time record across 20+ engagements (yes, I track it).

Lead Designer — Northlight Studio

2021 — 2025

Digital product & brand studio · led design team of 4

Joined as the third hire, left leading the design discipline. Northlight builds brand + product systems for venture-backed startups — I was the bridge between the brand team and the engineers.

  • Led 20+ client engagements — identities, design systems and product launches for funded startups.
  • Built the studio's design-ops practice: component libraries, review rituals and a hiring pipeline that grew the team from 1 to 4.
  • Won 5 industry awards for client work; studio revenue grew 3× across my tenure.

Product Designer — Craftwork

2019 — 2021

Product design agency · SaaS clients

Agency life at full speed: three-week sprints, four products at once, and an education in what actually moves product metrics. Learned to defend design decisions with data, not opinions.

  • End-to-end UX/UI for 6 early-stage SaaS products — onboarding, dashboards and settings hell, redesigned with care.
  • Cut onboarding drop-off 28% on a client's analytics tool through flow redesign and empty-state storytelling.
  • Introduced the agency's first token-based workflow, making handoffs 2× faster across teams.

Junior Designer — Folio Studio

2017 — 2019

Print & editorial studio · first role out of school

Started with my hands in ink — posters, zines, exhibition identities — before the studio's clients started asking for websites. I volunteered to learn code and never really stopped.

  • Designed 40+ print pieces — posters, books and exhibition systems for cultural clients.
  • Taught myself HTML, CSS and JavaScript on the job; built the studio's first 12 self-managed client sites.
  • Learned the lesson that shaped my career: typography is 80% of design.

Education

BA, Visual Communication

Academy of Art & Design — graduated with distinction, 2017

2013 — 2017 · Honours project: interactive typography for public spaces

"Design school gave me taste and theory; the three years after gave me reps. Both matter, but reps compound."

Capabilities

Skills that span the whole journey

Rarely one thing: I design the brand, design the product, then build the front-end that carries both. Honest self-assessment below — the bars are calibrated against peers, not optimism.
